Established by government funding in July 2003, the Cancer Institute NSW has an aim to substantially improve cancer control in NSW.

The NSW Health website has a Tobacco section providing statistics, information on law and policy and strategic directions. Read the NSW Tobacco Action Plan 2005-2009 and companion paper Background paper to the NSW Tobacco Action Plan 2005-2009, identifying priorities for tobacco control in NSW. The previous action plan is still available to review: NSW Tobacco Action Plan 2001-2004. Towards a Smoke-free Future is Queensland's first-ever strategic plan for addressing tobacco issues.
