On March 21, 2003 a US court ordered Philip Morris to pay $US10.1 billion for years of misleading consumers about the implied safety of "light" cigarettes. The judge said "the course of conduct by Philip Morris related to its fraud in this case is so outrageous, both because Philip Morris' motive was evil and the acts showed a reckless disregard for the consumers' rights." Judgment 2003 Mar 21. Philip Morris markets "light" cigarettes in Australia. A current billboard for Philip Morris' Kraft Light Peanut Butter says it is for "health nuts".
